Allaah says: "O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you in order that you attain Taqwaa."

For indeed you were only sent to make things easy and you were not sent to make things difficult." Related by Al-Buhkari (no.69) and Muslim (no.1734)
